Staff Bios:
Heather B: I have had the good fortune of being involved with Families First since its inception in 1996. Fist as chairperson of the Families First Board of Directors, then as a program workers. It is such a huge honour to now be serving in the role of the agency's Acting Executive Director. I look forward to meeting you!
Lorella J: I am the Human Resources Director for Families First, responsible for payroll, bookkeeping, and human resources. I enjoy my work and all the challenges that come with it. Families First is a great place to work and it is amazing how many resources we have available for our families here in the Fort and in Sturgeon County. I have a wonderful husband, a beautiful daughter and a very energetic standard poodle. Together we love to dance, camp, fish, and go for walks.
Kim H: began her journey with Families First 12 years ago when she attended her first Parent-Child Mother Goose Program with her daughter. This simple act of attending sparked a passion in Kim she had no idea was there…she became a storyteller. Through the years Kim has taken her own 3 children to many Families First programs and you will see her family volunteering at many events. Presently Kim still is very actively involved with the Parent-Child Mother Goose program both at a community level as well as at a national level. You will find her often in the Families First office as a Resource Worker and when not there she loves to spend time with her family, listens to music and practicing and teaching yoga.
April J: 15 years ago I was fortunate enough to meet a group of concerned citizens from Fort Saskatchewan who believed that families in our community deserved to be connected and supported. Families First was born from this groups ideas. I have always felt privileged to be a part of this organization, either as a board member, volunteer, or more recently, as a Parent Link Worker. With my background in Mental Health, I have been able to work, learn, support and be supported by Families First. A wonderful place to be a part of.
Krista M : Hello! I am the Home Visitation Worker. I support many families in Fort Saskatchewan in a voluntary program that focuses on the healthy development of their children starting when they are infants. I offer similar support for pregnant women in the Health For Two program to help them prepare their bodies and their lives for their new bundle of joy. My favourite things to do when I am not playing with little babies at work are hear live music, cook, and visit my family and friends in Cape Breton. Slàinte!
Jillian F: "I am very excited to be one of the parent link workers here at Families First Society! I have a diploma in social work and am loving working out in the Sturgeon county communities. I enjoy reading and the occasional run in the park. Hope to see you out on the trails!"
Lori-Ann H: is the Program Coordinator for Angel Whispers Baby Loss Support Program. She co-founded Angel Whispers with Melissa almost 10 years ago and has been involved since as a facilitator. She became program coordinator in the fall of 2010. Lori-Ann lives in Sherwood Park and has been married to Rene for 16 years and has 4 daughters - Sabrina - 15, Alexis - 12, Jaedyn - 9 & Sydney - 8. She has 2 Angel babies - Loren & Brooklyn. Lori-Ann is very passionate about the work she does with Angel Whispers, supporting families through the grief journey, after they have lost a baby by providing compassion, hope & understanding has given meaning to Lori-Ann's losses.
Cathleen S: runs the Chips program in Fort Saskatchewan as well as Creative with Kids and New Moms network (Plc portion). When she is able, she also likes to facilitate our Parent Child Mother Goose Program in the evenings. Cathleen has lived in Fort Saskatchewan since the turn of the millennium and is very proud to call the Fort home. She is married and has 2 wonderful daughters. In her spare time she likes to play soccer and travel.
