Families First Society is a non profit organization established in 1996. We are directed by a volunteer board and work in partnership with many agencies to offer a variety of programs and services. Our programs promote positive parenting and early childhood development.
Families First Society offers parent education, programs for young children to learn and play, and family support services, as well as information and referral to other programs and services.

For Parent & Caregivers
Parent~Child Mother Goose: A free of charge group experience for parents and caregivers and their babies and toddlers, focusing on the pleasure and power of using oral rhymes,songs and stories together. Parents & Child develop skills, confidence, and relationships which assist them during their children's crucial early years and form a basis for on going development as they grow and change together.

Triple P: is an internationally accredited program that helps
parents find practical and positive ways of handling everyday
parenting concerns with their children, from toddlers to teens.
Available in individual, group, or seminar series.

Kids have Stress Too: is a 4 week workshop that teaches
parents about the stress that children have in their lives. We
will talk about the signs and symptoms that children use to
express their stress as well as, discuss some coping techniques
to teach children for dealing with stressors in their lives.

Books For Babies: is a 4 week program held at Fort Saskatchewan Public Library for parents/caregivers and their babies (0-12 months).
Babies benefit from being read to, right from birth! Parents learn
what to look for in selecting the best books for their little ones!

Children
ChIPS - Children Indoor Play Space. Located by Turner Park, this is a drop in parent & child program that provides an informal play environment for ages 0-6. While children learn socialization and
motor skills through free play, parents can join in with children and other parents for a morning of fun. First visit is free! Closed through
the summer, this program follows the Elk Island School Calendar,
closed on PD days & holidays.

Creative with Kids: a free program for parents/caregivers and
children (0-6) that provides an opportunity for age appropriate
creative play and interaction through crafts, songs, games, rhymes
and stories. Runs at Chips every Monday & Wednesday
Sing and Sign: a program for parent/caregiver and their children,
ages birth to 3 years. Spend an hour cuddling, singing, signing,
playing, laughing & learning. Monday 10-11

Tools & Tots: calling all dads! Bring your 2-6 year old one Saturday a month for this Home Hardware sponsored program for quality time & projects.
Toy Lending/Parent Resource Library: Age and developmentally appropriate toys and parent resources such as books and videos are
lent out free of charge to families. Libraries are available at Fort Saskatchewan, Gibbons, Legal, and Redwater

ABC Grow With Me Summer Camps are a free of charge drop in day camp. Parents come out and share crafts, songs, lunch and snack with your children 6 and under.

Young Parents Group: A drop in group, free of charge for parents in their mid teens to mid twenties. This group is participant driven and covers a wide variety of activities and topics.

Community Kitchens: This program provides an opportunity for referred families to get together and cook in bulk to divide and share. Parents learn through practice to plan and prepare a menu. Then the meals are divided according to family size.
